Fort Valley, Ga, in the heart of the state, is a great place to take a quick weekend trip. Make sure you put Massee Lane Gardens on your list, which features a 10-acre camellia garden.

Once you've finished perusing the garden, take a short drive just east of Fort Valley to the Lane Southern Orchards. You'll love touring the family operated farm with thousands of acres of peaches and pecans. Make sure you also visit their retail market to purchase peaches, nuts, pies, and all sorts of jellies and dressings.

On the 2nd and 4th weekends, make sure you visity the Starry Night Drive In, which shows three movies each Friday and Saturday night.
