Okefenokee Nature Trip

Travel the Okefenokee Trail to get to The Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, established in 1936 to preserve the 438,000-acres swamp and its unique ecosystems, is accessed by three main entrances: Waycross to the north, Fargo on the west and Folkston on the east.

Inside the refuge, you'll find the Okefenokee Swamp Park, where you can take a guided boat tour or rent a canoe from Okefenokee Adventures. Fishing, hiking and an auto tour are also wonderful ways to experience the Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge.

You'll surely be tired from your swamp excursion, so plan to stay the night in nearby Waycross. Pond View Downtown and Inn is a great place to stay, and they have an on-site restaurant as well.
