Rock City Gardens Nature Trip
Lookout Mountain, located just a few miles from the Georgia/Tennessee border, is a great family destination. At 1,700 feet above sea level, you'll have panoramic views of seven states. Rock City Gardens, located atop Lookout Mountain, has many family friendly things to experience, including The Enchanted Trail, a self-guided walking tour, 200 million year old rock formations, and much more!
There are many great places to stay both on and around Lookout Mountain, including the Blue Cottage, located on Lookout Mountain, Buzzard Roost Cottage, atop Lookout Mountain, and the Chanticleer Inn on Lookout Mountain. Whatever your accomodations needs are, you're sure to find it.
On your second day, travel 45 minutes south to Cloudland Canyon, located in Cloudland Canyon State Park. Located on the western edge of Lookout Mountain, here you'll find one of the most scenic spots in Georgia. Hike to the bottom for the most spectacular waterfalls and shale pools. See the massive gullies which are up to 150 feet deep or visitors can enjoy views of the canyons from the rim trail.
