The State Botanical Gardens are a surefire hit for plant lovers and gardeners alike. Café Trumps at the Gardens is the perfect place for lunch, and you can overlook the gardens while you eat (call for reservations).
When you've finished exploring the gardens, take a trip over to the University of Georgia's Historic North Campus. Start at the UGA Visitor's Center to go on a self-guided tour or arrange for a guide to walk you through campus.
Plan to stay at the Foundry Park Inn & Spa, which is right in the heart of downtown Athens. There, you'll find both a luxurious room, and live music at The Melting Point.
Rise early the next day and tour the Birchmore Trail, a mile-long trail located at the Athens Memorial Park. There you'll find the Great Wall of Athens, built single-handedly by Fred Birchmore.
