Friday - Sunday, August 21 - 23, 2009 - Bushcraft is the art of using natural materials and primitive skills to improve camping and backpacking. Instruction will include shelter construction, water gathering, fire by friction, natural camo and more. Bring a backpacking tent, water or filter, pocketknife and food for the weekend. Take a short hike to the Wildlife Viewing area and enjoy nature sightings at our scenic pond. Meet at the Tennis Court Area Building. $5 parking. 706-657-4050.

All ages and abilities are welcome to participate in maintaining a section of the 45-mile trail system. One lucky volunteer will win a ParkPass! Tools available. Please bring water, snacks, appropriate clothing, sturdy closed toed shoes and work gloves. Meet at the Visitor’s Center parking lot.

Catch and release channel catfish in our scenic pond. Poles will be available for use during the session. $5 parking. 706-657-4050.

Guests will have the opportunity to join the park's campground hosts on an old-time hayride. Guests of all ages are welcome. Be sure to dress warmly and bring a camera for the fall colors. Hayrides depart twice a day; check at the Ranger station
