One of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War and the inspiration for the song HOLD THE FORT, the battle of Allatoona Pass was fought on October 5, 1864. Two original earthen forts and trench works remain, making it one of the most pristine battlefields in the nation. Monuments commemorate both armies. Hiking trails with interpretive markers. Open year-round. Parking available. No admission charged.
