This National Landmark, built in 1794, is the original home of prominent Cherokee leader, Major Ridge. Artifacts discovered on the grounds behind the house, as well as other materials relating to the removal of the Cherokees from the Georgia area are on display. Special events throughout the year further explore the Cherokee heritage of northwest Georgia. The home is also a nationally-designated site along the infamous Trail of Tears.
