This National Historic Register site, known as Cooper's Iron Works, is the only remnant of the 1830's town of Etowah, and Georgia's Iron Empire run by Mark A. Cooper until Sherman destroyed it in 1864 during the Civil War. A Blue & Gray Trail site, the Iron Works site offers picnic facilities, hiking trails, and a playground at the base of the Allatoona Dam.

Open March-October.

Directions

From Atlanta, go north on I-75 to Exit 288. Go south on GA 113 to second traffic light, then south on US 41. Travel one mile on US 41, then take the River Road exit ramp. Turn left onto River Road, which ends at the Day Use Area.
