At 3,300 feet, aop Grassy Mountain, the songbird area attracts a wide variety of birds due to the convergence of many habitat types in a small area. These habitats range from cleared, grassy areas to mature hardwoods. Coniferous forest and streams mingle with beaver ponds and swamps. Management activities are planned to complement and maintain this diversity. Grass and shrub habitats, established with small timber harvests, will be maintained through an annual program of prescribed burning.
