For more than sixty years, the Quinlan has provided extensive opportunities in the arts to the growing, culturally rich community of Gainesville, Georgia. Located on historic Green Street in downtown Gainesville, we are the only facility of this size and scope in northeast Georgia, and the oldest arts organization north of Atlanta. A haven for artists, collectors, students and art appreciators, the Quinlan has something to suit everyone’s artistic needs. Initially known as the Gainesville Art Association, the Quinlan can trace its origin to a 1946 meeting of artists. The facility you see today was initially dedicated in 1964 and recently expanded in 2004. There are five gallery spaces that host at least seven major exhibitions annually featuring original two and three dimensional works of art in all media ranging from realism, folk art, abstracts, impressionistic works, landscapes, still life, portraits and photography. In addition to the variety of gallery exhibitions, patrons may come to the Quinlan for lectures by artists, collectors and teachers, and purchase original art from local and nationally known artists both in the gallery exhibitions and the gift shop. Carefully balancing our roles of showcasing fine art and instruction, individuals may also sign up for classes from the quarterly class schedule featuring a large variety of both day and evening classes in all media for all skill levels for children, teens and adults. Each year, the Quinlan is set apart from other arts organizations for our commitment to continuing education opportunities for artists. There are at least seven major workshops- intensive week-long opportunities for study- with internationally recognized artists such as David A. Leffel, Sherrie McGraw, Gregg Kreutz, Marc Chatov, Gerald Brommer and Roseta Santiago.
