I live in North Fulton county and discovered the Sawnee Mountain Preserve about 5 months ago. They have the most beautiful nature preserve on the mountain, their staff is friendly and helpful, and their educational programs are world class. I am blessed to be able to visit the preserve on a regular basis, but I could definitely see someone from out of town making a trip just to visit this place!
From Atlanta: Take GA-400 North to exit 15 (Bald Ridge Marina Rd/Cumming). Turn left, heading towards downtown Cumming. At the third traffic light, take a right on Bettis Tribble Gap Road (City of Cumming clock tower will be on your right). Go approximately 3 miles and the west entrance to Sawnee Mountain Preserve will be on the right. For the Visitor Center, do not turn into this entrance. Continue another mile on Bettis Tribble Gap Rd to the next traffic light. Turn right onto Spot Road. The Visitor Center is about 500 yards on your right.
