You could settle for the old jail cells and picture Otis sobering up on the bottom bunk at the Vienna Heritage House, the past home of Vienna City Hall, Vienna Police Department and the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department.

Dooly County, the 48th county formed in Georgia, was created in 1821 and takes great pride in being home to the Georgia State Cotton Museum, state leader in cotton production and home to one of the country’s finest festivals, BIG PIG JIG®.  If antiques amuse you, enjoy shopping at any of the four antiques stores or sample the newest crop of pecans and peaches at Ellis Brothers Pecans where they are “nuts”!

There are many historic landmarks and homes to view.  You can delve into the rich history or learn about the famous of Dooly County.  We have had screen writers, athletes, Supreme Court Justices, poets and bar-b-que masters, just to name a few.  Dooly County is perfectly situated along I-75 in South Central Georgia, two hours south of Atlanta and two hours north of the Florida state line.  It offers a quiet, small town atmosphere in reach of major metropolitan areas.  With nearby Americus, Plains, Andersonville and Columbus, the area is rich with history, yet abounds with activity.  Stop in and you just might want to stay for a while.
