The mountain community of Batesville celebrates its history and heritage on the fourth Saturday of October each year. This annual event will be held at Sunburst Stables just south of Hwy 197 on St. Hwy. 255.
The one day celebration will take place from 10 am to 4 pm. Ten years ago the Batesville community Association started the celebration as a way of supporting the fire department and at the same time celebrate the families and ancestors of this mountain community. Demonstrators from Batesville and nearby communities show a glimpse of life in the early 1900s. Even the music played all day is of the early 20th century.
This year’s celebration will be held on the grounds of the Sunburst Stables, 1 mile south (on 255) of the Batesville Fire Station and Batesville General Store and Restaurant at Hwys. 197 and 255. The event and parking is free. Call 706-947-1601 or email barush@windstream.net for additional information.
