Dragonflies and damselflies are some of the most beautiful and beneficial insects in the bug world. They come in many sizes shapes and colors. Join a park ranger on the hunt for these tiny predators, and explore streams, lake and pond. Bring a digital camera and binoculars for the adventure.

Join a park ranger on this nature quest, as we explore the nature trail and track down the many families of insects that call the forest home. Bring a digital camera to record your findings! Join a park ranger on this guided hike under the full moon. Wear comfortable shoes, insect repellent, and bring a camera to record the journey, as we listen for insects, frogs and other nocturnal creatures. Meet at the Hard Labor Creek Trading Post. $5 plus $5 parking. 706-557-3001.

Kids ages 6 - 12 can earn a level l Jr Ranger Patch. Participants will learn about native trees, wildlife, and history, and enjoy fishing, hiking and keeping a nature journal. Register in advance, space is limited. Call for complete dates and age groups. $50. 706-557-3001.

This volunteer workday is a great way for individuals, families, or community service oriented groups to do some great outside work. Help clipping limbs, setting erosion bars, and picking up litter to improve the quality of the trails at Hard Labor Creek. $5 parking. 706-557-3001.

This field trip is designed for anyone interested in learning more about birds, habitats critical to some species, and organizations like the Audubon Society which are dedicated to bird conservation. Meet at the Park Office/Trading Post. $5 parking. 706-557-3001.

This special ranger-led 1.5 mile hike will earn brownies their "Legacy Naturalist" patch. We will be looking for nocturnal insects, from beetles to moths, and discuss how important insects are to our forest. Participants encouraged to bring a camera to record their findings. $5 plus $5 parking.

Girl Scouts can earn their Junior Legacy Badge in Wildflowers, and learn about keeping a nature journal on this 2 mile hike on the Brantley/Beaver Pond Trails. Supplies will be included, as will artistic instruction. Space is limited, please register in advance. Meet at the Park Office/Trading Post.
