In honor of the 100th Anniversary of the distinguish playwright Tennessee Williams, the Averitt STARS bring The Glass Menagerie to the Emma Kelly Theater. The Glass Menagerie is the dramatic story of the Wingfield family, Amanda and her children Tom and Laura, abandoned by their husband/ father struggling to create a happy life. While Tom does his best to support the family, Amanda seeks a suitor for Laura who prefers her glass figurines to the outside world. Will Tom’s friend Jim be a good fit for Laura, or will his presence tear the family apart? Directed by Mical Whitaker, this show is a must see for all theater goers. Dr. Del Presley will present a scholarly High Tea on Tennessee Williams and the Glass Menagerie at the Statesboro Inn on Thursday, February 23rd, 2011.
