The 2012 Open House will be similar to 2011 with a Skydiving Demonstration by Fort Benning’s Silver Wings, a combatives demonstration, mock ambushes, FRIES /SPIES demonstration, CASEVAC demonstration, mountain climbing and rappelling technique demonstrations, weapons and equipment exhibits from WWII time frame to the present, and a range where civilians could shoot blank rounds through an M4 Rifle, M249 SAW and a M240.

Rangers who fought in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Desert Storm, Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan will be represented. On hand will be local Boy Scouts and JROTC/ROTC units.

Equipment used by the US Army Rangers in carrying out their mission will also be on display, including helicopters, night vision devices, weapons, and parachutes.

Visitors are able to see examples of the mountain phase of Ranger training and numerous displays. 5K/15K Mountain Ranger Run.  Both races start at the Washega 4H Camp and wind through the Chattahoochee National Forest in a hilly loop along non-paved Forest Service roads & trails. Come up early and run the morning away.   For the somewhat more adventurous crowd,  there will be a 34K Mountain Bike Race. The course is challenging enough for advanced riders yet forgiving enough for beginners.

The Mountain Ranger Association will hold their annual “Critter Cook Out” following the Open House for all present, past and future Rangers and their families.
