The 2012 Open House will be similar to 2011 with a Skydiving Demonstration by Fort Benning’s Silver Wings, a combatives demonstration, mock ambushes, FRIES /SPIES demonstration, CASEVAC demonstration, mountain climbing and rappelling technique demonstrations, weapons and equipment exhibits from WWII time frame to the present, and a range where civilians could shoot blank rounds through an M4 Rifle, M249 SAW and a M240.
Rangers who fought in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Desert Storm, Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan will be represented. On hand will be local Boy Scouts and JROTC/ROTC units.
Equipment used by the US Army Rangers in carrying out their mission will also be on display, including helicopters, night vision devices, weapons, and parachutes.
Visitors are able to see examples of the mountain phase of Ranger training and numerous displays. 5K/15K Mountain Ranger Run. Both races start at the Washega 4H Camp and wind through the Chattahoochee National Forest in a hilly loop along non-paved Forest Service roads & trails. Come up early and run the morning away. For the somewhat more adventurous crowd, there will be a 34K Mountain Bike Race. The course is challenging enough for advanced riders yet forgiving enough for beginners.
The Mountain Ranger Association will hold their annual “Critter Cook Out” following the Open House for all present, past and future Rangers and their families.

The Dahlonega Downtown Development Authority/Main Street Program present the "First Friday Night Concert Series" in downtown Dahlonega's beautiful Hancock Park. The 2012 concerts will be June through October. All concerts are free to the public and begin at 6:30 PM.

The 2012 Dahlonega Appalachian Jam is scheduled for April 28 through October 13. Listeners and musicians alike enjoy the acoustic bluegrass and old time string music on the Public Square from 2 pm until 5 pm every Saturday.

The inaugural North Georgia Chamber Music Festival will feature world class musicians performing on June 15, 17, 22 & 24 at the campus of North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega.

Gold Rush Days are held the third weekend in October, when thousands come to see fall colors peaking and celebrate Dahlonega's 1828 discovery of gold. Over 300 art and craft exhibitors gather around the Public Square and Historic District in support of this annual event!

Begun in 2004, this literary festival features the Don Bacek Literary IQ Quiz and Scavenger Hunt. Come listen to keynote speakers and visit the vendor booths.
