Plains and Andersonville

Travel to Plains and spend the weekend in the current home town of the 39th President, Jimmy Carter. Enjoy walking the streets of history in hopes of catching the former President in town shopping before heading to the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site which includes President Carter's Boyhood Farm. The Farm is managed by The National Park Service and rangers are on duty to tell the history.  Eat dinner at Mom’s Kitchen and enjoy real southern food for real Georgia folk.  After dinner, check in to the Plains Historic Inn for the evening and enjoy one of their seven period suites authentically furnished from the 1920’s to the 1980’s.  The next day, travel to Andersonville, and visit the Andersonville National Historic Site, which pays tribute to all American prisoners of war. The park preserves the site of Camp Sumter and includes Andersonville National Cemetery and the National Prisoner of War Museum.
