Birchmore Trail

The mile-long trail at Athens' Memorial Park winds through an urban forest and is highlighted by the Great Wall of Athens, built single-handedly by Fred Birchmore while in his 70s. The legendary Mr. Birchmore bicycled around the world in the 1930s. His bicycle is in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C.
