The Georgia Aquarium is the world's largest with more than eight million gallons of fresh and marine water and more aquatic life than found in any other aquarium. With five unique galleries that take you on aquatic adventure around the globe, you are sure to see things you’ve never seen before! The Georgia Aquarium also offers an exciting and intriguing environment for special events, in our Oceans Ballroom. With two large aquatic observation windows, guests find themselves face-to-face with exotic fish and animals from every corner of the world. Flexible in design, yet grand in nature, the 16,400 square-foot ballroom anchors the Aquarium’s event space. It can comfortably seat 1,100 people for dinner or handle up to 1,500 for a reception.

The Georgia Aquarium is the perfect way to spend a quality day with the family. They have so many fish to see, and the hands on experiences are wonderful for children! My son absolutely loved the playground too.

In various online forums people debate about whether "biggest is best", with the Aquariums. The Georgia Aquarium is the biggest due to the fact it currently has 8 million gallons of water - with 6 million gallons being devoted to the tank that houses the Whale Sharks. It's not technically the largest Aquarium in terms of building size or features on the property - just in terms of gallons of water.
That being said, it's a decent Aquarium. A lot of people have complained about how some areas inside "bottleneck" on busy days, because some of the corridors were designed too narrow, so it's HIGHLY advisable that you go very early in the day, on a weekday, or later in the evening a couple of hours before closing. Otherwise, you may not be able to look in the viewing ports of some of the small exhibits due to the large crowds, and you'll be rammed by baby strollers in the ankles more than once. Go early - or be doomed.
The Whale Shark exhibit area and Beluga Whale areas are the best. There will be a Dolphin exhibit sometime in 2010. Some of the other exhibits are lacking a bit in terms of viewable area, though. Still, it's a good way to spend the day. If you want to avoid the crowds and see some more habitat-oriented style exhibits, try the Chattanooga Aquarium two hours North of Atlanta instead.

i went there. its the largest aquarium in the world, and i went there. cool.

aaaaa

We spent a great day with pre-teens. They enjoyed it a lot. Lots of things to do that older kids can appreciate.
