If seeing wildlife up close is something you enjoy, look no further than the northeast Georgia mountains, where you'll find miles and miles of hiking trails and rivers abounding with native wildlife, plus many attractions that are perfect for a family "walk on the wild side". Start at the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve, where you can experience over 50 different species of exotic and domestic wildlife, including a rare White Siberian Tiger, chimpanzees, panthers and other fascinating animals. From there, head over to Tallulah Gorge State Park, which features the famous 1,000 foot deep gorge, thundering waterfalls and a thrilling suspension bridge. After hiking the gorge, where you're likely to see lots of local wildlife, be sure to visit the Interpretive Center, which has beautiful wildlife exhibits and an entertaining film about the gorge and surrounding area. The drive alone is worth the trip, especially during the fall foliage season.
