This scenic cotton plantation includes a sawmill, cotton gin, gristmill, sugar cane press, barn, farm animals, beautiful shade trees and more. The 1847 farm house has period furnishings, and a small museum includes exhibits and a film.

Fans of the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes" will want to stop in at the real Whistle Stop Cafe and visit the surrounding area.

Dames Ferry Park offers full-service campsites with hook-ups for water and electricity; picnic tables and grills; and a bathhouse with showers. The park also has a day-use area with pavilion, picnic tables and grills and a separate boat launch area with adjacent parking.

With 3,600 acres strictly for fishiing, the lake prohibits boats with engines greater than 25 horsepower, as well as personal watercrafts.
