Professor Pearce L. Elkins was awarded a $75.00 prize for his forestry presentation and proposed building a log cabin with the money. Built during the 1934-35 school year by the Future Farmers of America (FFA) students, the Cabin is the only remaining FFA-constructed log cabin still in use today in the United States.
