Athens Music and Arts

Bookmark and Share

Athens has long been known as a hub for music and arts.

If you're visiting in June, the annual AthFest Music and Arts Festival, named a top 20 event by the Southeast Tourism Society, is not to be missed. Here, you'll find original music, art, local film screenings, and fun for all ages.

During the rest of the year, there are many exciting things to see and do. Explore Downtown Athens and you're sure to find unique art and music along the way.

A visit to the Morton Theater will take you back in time, as you see what one of the first vaudeville theatres in the US owned and operated by an African America was like back in the early 1900's. Now a rental facility, it also hosts many dramatic and musical performances throughout the year.

A local musician's paradise, Athens is home to many clubs which feature both headline acts and local bands. Check out the Melting Point, Cine and the 40 Watt Club for a great time in the evening.

With so much to see and do, you won't want to rest, but there are many great places to stay once you're here. If you want to be in the middle of downtown, plan to stay at the Foundry Park Inn and Spa. If you long for something a little more quiet, both The Colonels and Fair Havens Plantation will pamper you.
