Macon Arts Weekend
Home to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, Macon is a must see for any art and music lover. Start your day at the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, where you'll browse exhibits and experience programs and performances which celebrate the music and lives of over 100 inductees. Don't miss the Music Factory Kid's wing, which lets kids create their own music.
For lunch, don't miss the Bear's Den. Located walking distance from Mercer University, this locally owned treasure features some of the best down home cooking around.
From there, head over to the Museum of Arts and Sciences, where you can see works of fine art, observe animals, and even explore outer space!
Plan your evening around The Capitol Theatre, which plays both new movies and classic films, and also hosts live entertainment.
When the day is done, plan to turn in at the Hilton Garden Inn, located near Mercer University and most of the other attractions you'll be visiting.
If your trip to Macon occurs on a weekday, don't miss the Historic Douglass Theatre, which discovered Otis Redding, Little Richard, Ma Rainey and Cab Callaway (among many others). This historic theatre pays tribute to the African American influence on film and theater.
