Savannah Arts
Savannah, America's first planned city, is full of architectural and artistic gems. Be sure to fit in a visit to the Savannah College of Art and Design (better known as SCAD), which offers many free exhibitions to the public.
Every April, SCAD hosts a Sidewalk Art Festival, located in historic Forsyth Park, so be sure to check it out if you're in Savannah during this time of year.
While you're in Savannah, don't miss the historic Lucas Theatre. Completely restored, the Lucas Theatre re-opened it's doors in 2000, and is now supported jointly by the Lucas Theatre for the Arts and SCAD, and it hosts a wide variety of community events, movies and performances throughout the year.
The Telfair Museum of Art is also a great place to visit. With three diverse sites: the original building, which houses the Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Owens-Thomas House and the Jepson Center for the Arts, you're sure to find hours of entertainment touring the sites.
Savannah has dozens of great places to stay during your trip, but be sure to check out The Mansion on Forsyth Park and the Azalea Inn & Gardens, both of which are located in historic downtown Savannah, and are beautiful pieces or art in their own right.
