Some of the biggest names in modern rock are coming to Midtown Atlanta’s Piedmont Park for two full days of music during Music Midtown. Follow these tips to help you navigate the city and the event.

Dates & Times

The gates to the festival open at noon on September 16-17, 2017. Concerts typically go on well into the late evening hours.

Location

Summer time in the city at Atlanta's Piedmont Park.

Music Midtown takes place at Piedmont Park. There will be five entrances to the event: 10th Street at Charles Allen Drive, Monroe Drive at Park Drive, 14th Street at Piedmont Avenue, 10th Street near Grady High School Stadium, and 12th Street at Piedmont Avenue.

Piedmont Park is located within walking distance of Atlanta’s Midtown attractions, close to the Atlanta Beltline and near Ponce City Market. While it looks like it is close to Centennial Olympic Park on a map, the hike from downtown Atlanta is hillier than it appears at first glance.

The ground at Piedmont Park is covered with grass and paved trails.

Getting there

Piedmont Park is easily accessed by bus, train, taxi, Uber, on foot and by bicycle. It is easily accessed by car, but parking is tough during major festivals.

Tips for taking MARTA: you can load your Breeze card ahead of time online at www.breezecard.com, which can save you time before and after the festival. You can transfer from bus to train without having to pay an additional fee.

When deciding your method of transportation to the festival, you’ll want to note that skateboards, scooters, bicycles, wagons, carts and personal motorized vehicles are prohibited during the event.

Staying there

Atlanta is home to a number of hotels close to the event site, including the W Atlanta Midtown, Hyatt Atlanta Midtown, Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Midtown, Loews Atlanta, Renaissance Atlanta Midtown, Homewood Suites by Hilton Atlanta Midtown, Crowne Plaza Atlanta - Midtown, and Atlanta Marriott Suites Midtown.

The area is also home to a number of bed and breakfasts and boutique hotels, including Stonehurst Place, Hotel Indigo, Shellmont Inn Bed & Breakfast, and Virginia Highland Bed and Breakfast.

If you don’t mind traveling a short distance to get to your room, you may want to try one of downtown Atlanta’s hotels.

At the festival

Featuring 30 artists performing across four stages, the main reason to go to Music Midtown is the music. To satisfy your sense of taste, the festival is promising some of Atlanta’s favorite local bites will be available for purchase.

Before you get there, you’ll want to be sure to pay special attention to the list of allowed and explicitly prohibited items here.

Cost

Two-day general admission tickets, listed for $135, are available at www.musicmidtown.com/tickets.

Other things to do while you’re there

If you’re in town for the festival but don’t want to spend all day at the shows, you’re in luck because your wristband allows unlimited entry and re-entry. Within walking distance, festivalgoers can take a break from the action and head to Ponce City Market, where the Skyline Park provides a whole host of entertainment and the food stalls provide a reason to bring your appetite with you.

Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta, Georgia

The High Museum of Art and Museum of Design Atlanta are close by, and just a bit further are the attractions of downtown Atlanta, including SkyView Atlanta, the Inside CNN Studio Tour, The Children’s Museum of Atlanta, and Centennial Olympic Park.

Atlanta is filled with music venues and other attractions music fans will love. Follow this guide to Atlanta's music scene for more travel tips.
