Carrying a full line of craft beer, ciders, and wine, Just Tap’d has over 60 draft beer options to choose from and unique, artisan style pub food, as well. Their fantastic outdoor space is the perfect spot to enjoy a beer and hang out with your furry friend. 488 First Street 

The Rookery

Photo Credit: The RookeryKnown as one of Macon’s most noticeable landmarks, The Rookery has been a gathering place since Jimmy Carter ascended to the White House and Capricorn Records was a world renowned hit maker. With its large patio space, both humans and canines can enjoy their delicious food while enjoying downtown. Be sure to try out their Allman Burger, with Swiss cheese and sautéed mushrooms, and their Jimmy Carter milkshake, with banana ice cream, peanut butter, and a slice of bacon. 543 Cherry Street

THINGS TO DO

Amerson River Park

This park has 180 acres of pristine forests, meadows, and wetlands. Several high bluffs offer beautiful views of the river. Children can play on the playground equipment while dogs and owners walk, run, or bike ride down seven miles of trail. Kayaking and tubing are also available for nature lovers. 2551 North Pierce Drive

Rose Hill Cemetery

Photo Credit: Kristin LunaFounded in 1840, this historic cemetery is located on 65 acres next to the Ocmulgee River. The oldest and largest cemetery in Macon, it serves as the final resting place for Duane Allman and Berry Oakley from The Allman Brothers Band. 1071 Riverside Drive

Macon Dog Park

Ocmulgee National Monument

Photo Credit: Kristin LunaStep back in time at this prehistoric American Indian site has had over 17,000 years of human habitations and artifacts from the past are still present today. Hike through a number of trails located at the park and enjoy a picnic with your pup on the grounds’ shaded picnic tables. 1207 Emery Highway

This extended stay property opened in September 2016. Situated across from historic Mercer University’s campus, this hotel is located just minutes from downtown Macon. All rooms come with a fully equipped kitchen (full sized fridge, stove top, dishwasher, and dishes). The hotel also offers free continental and hot breakfast, an outdoor pool, a fire-pit and Weber grills with accessories. 1550 Mercer University Drive

Pup Guidelines: A $100, one-time, non-refundable pet fee (for cleaning). A maximum of 1 pet, 30lbs or less. Pets must be secured before housekeeping enters.

Candlewood Suites

The Candlewood Suites offers an outdoor pool, a patio with gazebo, a fitness room and a business center. The lending locker allows guests to borrow items from board games to blenders. The rooms come equipped with a full sized fridge, a stove top, a dishwasher, a microwave and dishes. 3957 River Place Drive

Twin Oaks RV Park

This family-owned RV Park is nestled between snowy cotton fields and majestic pecan orchards. Many attractions are nearby, including the Warner Robins Air Force Museum and the Home of Jimmy Carter. The park offers a community saline pool, a hot tub with private deck and Gazebo, and RV sites with 30/50 amp service.305 Highway 26 East in Elko, GA

Lake Tobesofkee Campgrounds

Both Arrowhead and Claystone Parks offer camp sites that are open year round. Both have full electrical and water hookups. Boat ramps, clean bath facilities, coin-operated laundry facilities and a full-time staff are available for your convenience. 6600 Moseley Dixon Road

Home2 Suites by Hilton

This extended stay hotel is minutes away from Macon’s historic district, including the Macon Centreplex and Convention Center. Guest rooms include moveable furniture and fully furnished kitchens. The hotel offers a seasonal outdoor pool, grill and fire pit, guest laundry services and a fitness facility. Free breakfast is included. 3963 River Place Drive

Bonus: Pets are allowed to stay in the room while guests are gone, and the front desk can provide information about pet supply stores
Pet Guidelines: A $75 deposit is non-refundable and the maximum weight per pet is 30lbs. Pets are not allowed in the pool or breakfast areas. No more than two pets per suite. The pets must be in cages/kennels when housekeepers enter the room.
