Newton Plantation Trace

Newton is the county seat of Baker County. Although small, Newton has several historic properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Newton was founded in 1837 and is the county seat of Baker County.  There are several properties on the National Register of Historic Places:  Baker County Courthouse, Notchaway Baptist Church, and Pine Bloom Plantation.

Newton is located on the Flint River and in the Quail Plantation region, Newton is one of the few areas in Georgia not touched by a federal highway.
