Funk Heritage Center
Waleska

Waleska, a small town just north of Canton in Cherokee County, is so named for Warluskee, the daughter of a local Cherokee chief who lived in the area and was removed during the Trail of Tears.  Visitors to the area are invited to experience the Funk Heritage Center, Georgia's Official Southereastern Indian and Pioneer Interpretive Center located on the campus of Reinhardt University in the heart of the city.  Reinhardt University began as an academy to serve the area's impoverished children, but today is one of Georgia's outstanding educational institutions.
