Take the kids to Chick a Biddy or Tin Drum for lunch, catch a movie at Regal Cinemas, and check the events calendar for special activities ranging from free movies in the park to storytelling and games.

Avalon sits on 86 acres in Alpharetta and includes shopping, dining and so much more. Visit The Container Store for your home organizing needs, or find new clothes for the kiddos at Gymboree, Gap, Janie and Jack, or Vineyard Vines. Trim the kids’ locks at Van Michael’s Salon, and fuel up on after-school snack and lunch box goodies at Whole Foods. While you’re visiting, kids will love the healthy lunch choices at Bantam + Biddy, or stop in for Atlanta’s best loved pizza at Antico. Need to bribe the little ones into a shopping trip? Head north to Woodstock to visit Georgia’s newest outlet mall, The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta. No car? No problem! Try the complimentary group shopping shuttle, which picks up from hotels in Atlanta. For your kids’ shopping needs, there is Georgia-based Carter’s, The Children’s Place, Gymboree, Polo, Nike and Levi’s. They can even get haircuts at Pigtails & Crewcuts. After shopping, feast on Johnny Rockets, hit the play and climbing area, and then grab a snack at Ghirardelli Chocolate and Ice Cream.

Tweens and teens will adore shopping at Ponce City Market, a revitalized mixed-use shopping area. Stock up on clothes at Anthropologie or JCrew, and find the coolest school supplies at Binders. Set up an eye exam at Karoo and shop for trendy specs while you visit. You’ll find the perfect lamp for homework at Rejuvenation and a matching desk at West Elm, as well as all the personal care products you need at Sephora. Treat the kids with something from Collier Candy Company or King of Pops, or go healthy with a smoothie from Lucky Lotus. For lunch, try a sandwich at El Super Pan or a burger from H&F. It’s part traditional mall, part old-fashioned town square…and great for families. Clothing stores at the Mall of Georgia in Buford include Georgia-based OshKosh, Aeropostale, American Eagle, Justice and Belk. There’s also a Kids Foot Locker, Barnes and Noble, Pottery Barn Kids and an Apple store. The kids will want to visit the Disney store or make a creation at Painted Penguin. Don’t skip signing up for the Simon Kidgets Club for special events, coupons, discounts and more. Come back at dusk for Movies Under the Stars during summer, and enjoy dinner at PF Chang’s.
