This annual celebration of Dahlonega's Appalachian Trail Community designation is produced by The Yahoola Creek Trails Conservancy. Dahlonega Trail Fest presents a variety of outdoor and camping topic workshops, including authors, films about the Appalachian Trail (AT), camping, a 5K trail run, talks by past hikers, live music, local artists, guided hikes and tours, mountain bike rides, outfitters and vendors.
Part of the Dahlonega Trail Fest mission is to educate users of the AT and North Georgia national forests and state parks as well as raise awareness of the proximity of Dahlonega to Springer Mountain, the Southern AT terminus. Typically the third full weekend of March, the celebration coincides with the official start of spring and the most popular weekend for northbound hikers to depart.
