Local historian, Peter Bonner will be at the Patrick R. Cleburne Confederate Cemetery telling Civil War stories on August 30, 2014. Hear a more personal side of the Battle of Jonesboro through researched stories of people involved and affected by the Civil War. The Battle of Jonesboro was a pivotal time in the Civil War because the Confederate defeat led to the last supply rail lines leading into Atlanta being cut and later the fall of the city. The battle waged for two days close to the Warren House, which was the Union Hospital at the time. Soldiers recounted that the fighting continued until bodies were stacked three deep in the yard.
