Join us for the concert to kick off the 16th Annual Conductors Workshop at CSU. Two "deans" of wind band conducting in the United States will be joining us: H. Robert Reynolds of the University of Southern California (and Director of Bands emeritus of the University of Michigan), and Allan McMurray, recently retired Director of Bands at the University of Colorado.
The program features Strauss's Vienna Philharmonic Fanfare, then a beautiful chamber work by Spanish composer Joaquin Rodrigo, followed by a rock-n-roll concerto for clarinet inspired by Led Zeppelin's Black Dog. Maestro Reynolds will lead the Wind Ensemble in his own setting of Morten Laurdisen's magnificent O Magnum Mysterium, before closing the concert with John Mackey's Redline Tango.
