Georgia Southern will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 3 p.m. to officially open its newly renovated and redesigned 18-hole championship golf course at 1031 Golf Club Road in Statesboro. University President Brooks A. Keel, Ph.D., Director of Golf Marten Olsson, course designer Robert Walker and others will be part of the ceremony and available for interviews. Limited public play on the golf course begins on Saturday, Oct. 12.
Georgia Southern purchased the golf course three years ago and spent $5 million collected from student recreation fees on renovations. The course is 6,900 yards with five sets of tees, a practice range and an 8,000-square-foot clubhouse.
