In October of 1999, Native Americans gathered at Northwest Park for the first time since the Big Springs Trail of Tears in 1838. For 16 years, Native Americans have gathered at the park to remember and commemorate the Trail of Tears. Come out and join Native Americans as they meet to share their heritage with singing and dancing as they tell their stories. All dancers and drums are welcome. Concessions and vendors will be set up inside the park with handmade Native American relics and facepainting for the children, as well as many other unique items. The park is located just minutes from the Trail of Tears.
