Hike along the two mile DeSoto Falls Trail or fish for trout in Frogtown Creek. Located in the Blue Ridge Ranger District, The DeSoto Falls Recreation area is a scenic spot with easy access for either a weekend of camping or a quick hike to the falls. We are open from late April until late November. A fee is required for camping and day use parking. This area is open 24 hours a day for campers. No reservations are required.

Two day trips from the campground are worth exploring. The first is the nearby DeSoto Falls. Three cascading waterfalls are within easy walking distance from the parking area. The second is Neels Gap, which is located about four miles north on US Route 19/129. At Neels Gap, visitors can access the Appalachian Trail and visit an outfitter store, which was built in stone by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s.
