A center dedicated to teaching and preserving the heritage and life of the Geechee culture. Geechee Kunda is a living museum filled with African art, textiles, paintings, tools and craftwork used by the Gullah Geechees from the 1700s to the 1900s.Located in Riceboro, a former rice and indigo plantation,  Geechee Kunda is home to numerous artifacts. The museum also features local artisans, singers, shouters and dancers at community events which are held throughout the year.

    Enjoy sugarcane grinding, syrup cooking, sweetgrass basket sewing, quilting and more! Hourly performances by groups such as the Gullah Geechee Shouters, the Kala JoJo Drum Circle, music and dance demonstrations, instrument making demos and storytelling.
