A center dedicated to teaching and preserving the heritage and life of the Geechee culture. Geechee Kunda is a living museum filled with African art, textiles, paintings, tools and craftwork used by the Gullah Geechees from the 1700s to the 1900s.Located in Riceboro, a former rice and indigo plantation,  Geechee Kunda is home to numerous artifacts. The museum also features local artisans, singers, shouters and dancers at community events which are held throughout the year.

    Join Geechee Kunda for the annual Sugarcane Harvest. Using a historic grinder, the harvest will allow attendees to see the entire process of how sugarcane is made. Also on display will be art from numerous individuals including photos, paintings, quilts and more. Geechee Kunda is home to numerous African artifacts which tell the story of the people who worked on the Retreat Plantation in Riceboro. Hourly performances and demonstrations begin at 12 noon.
