The Herndon Home is a National Historic Landmark. The15-room house was built by Atlanta businessman Alonzo Herndon, who was born a slave. The house is Beaux Arts Classical in style and contains original furnishings and those acquired later by Herndon's son Norris. The house was designed primarily by Herndon's first wife, Adrienne, and was constructed by African-American craftsmen.

Tours are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Group Tours (15 or more) can be scheduled for any day of the week except Sunday.
