The City of Hiram was established in 1891 when its main source of revenue was cotton. It is currently a thriving city of business and industry. This city located in Paulding County, one of the fastest growing counties in the nation, is very familiar with growth. In the 2000 census the population was calculated at 1,361. In 2008 it is estimated to be nearing the 3,000 - 5,000 mark. The three square miles that make up the city of Hiram are three miles of dual characteristics. There is the traditional, quaint, sleepy town that many residents still endeavor to maintain; and there is the growing, bustling commercial area that acts as a magnet for many Paulding County residents. Because Hiram sits on two major highways, 92 and 278, it acts as a thoroughfare to and from neighboring cities, counties, and the world's busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Hiram boasts a beautifully renovated park, the Silver Comet Trail, and an abundance of retail and restaurant locations.
