In addition to the other ammenities offered at General Coffee State Park, horse lovers can now ride along the beautiful and natural landscapes of this South Georgia State Park.
Rules and Regulations:
1. Registration: Prior to removing horses from trailers, riders will register. Registration shall consist of presenting a negative Coggins certificate, paying the appropriate fees, and signing the liability waiver.
2. Fees: Trail riding and stable, and/or tie up fees shall be collected for each horse that is registered. Horses stabled overnight will not pay the normal trail fee but rather a one-time charge equal to the daily trail fee. This will cover the trail fee for the length of the stay. Camping fees will be that which is normally accessed for camping. Normal parking permit requirements shall be enforced. Annual trail passes will be available for purchase.
3. Health Requirements: Persons wishing to bring their horse(s) onto a State Park are required to show that their horse(s) have received a Negative Coggins Test. The proof must be in the form of a United States Department of Agriculture Equine Anemia Laboratory Test Report that is signed by an accredited veterinarian. Horses will not be allowed to stay on park premises without proof of a negative Coggins test within the last year.
4. Seasons: Equestrian trails and stables shall remain open on a year-round basis. However, when conditions warrant (wet weather, snow, ice, etc.), trails can be closed at the discretion of the site manager.
5. Annual passes can be purchased for trail riding. The pass will be good for one year from the date of the purchase. The annual pass holder is responsible for filing a current negative Coggins certificate(s) with the park office. The annual pass allows the holder access to the trails with one horse
6. Code of Behavior: All visitors using equestrian facilities are subject to the same rules governing other park visitors plus the following which pertain to horseback riding:
1. No smoking at any time while in the stables.
2. No riding prior to dawn or after sunset.
