The Huxford Genealogical Society was formed in 1972 and a library established as a despository for Judge Folks Huxford's extensive collection of  family histories from the Wiregrass region. In 2010, the Elmer Spear Genealogy Library from Madison, Fla., was donated to the society, and the library became the Huxford-Spear Genealogical Library. The collection holds more than 57,000 research books and other materials, including about 16,000 family folders and a large collection of microfilm and microfiche. The library is sustained by membership dues ($35 per family, yearly) and donations. First time visit is free of charge.
