Kauffman's is a 25-year-old strawberry U-pick farm located in Macon County. Situated in the heart of one of the largest Mennonite communites in Georgia, it is just minutes away from Interstate I-75 south of Atlanta. Strawberry season runs from March to May, and visitors are welcome Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
We love children and enjoy teaching about fruit and vegetable production or other aspects of farm living. Price is $6 per child. (Homeschoolers pay for one and get one free, and teachers and bus drivers get complimentary passes.) Our tour includes: one small basket of berries, a hay ride around the farm, petting and feeding the animals in the barn, a small cup of ice cream and a visit inside the silo. Picnic and play area provided. Each tour lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. For reservations, call Steve or Loretta at 478-472-8833 or email kauffmansfarmarket@gmail.com.
