LaFayette

Often called the "Queen City of the Highlands," LaFayette is the county seat of Walker County and boasts a rich Native American, Civil War and African American history.

From Rock City on Lookout Mountain to the communities of Lafayette and Chickamauga in the valley, the area is still much an undiscovered treasure of natural beauty.

Rock Town, with it’s house-size boulders, rivals the formations at Rock City; MacLemore Cove/Pigeon Mountain area is some of the most beautiful valley in the region; and Civil War history (and maybe a ghost!), lives at the Marsh House and Chattooga Academy, both are across from the Foothills Gallery where visitors can admire and purchase a variety of works from local artists.
