The LaGrange Art Museum is more than 50 years old. Housed in a former jail (circa 1892), the museum includes four galleries, offices, classrooms, kitchen, collection storage, and sculpture garden. A neighboring building houses the museum's educational activities. In the past two years, new gardens and fountains were completed around the museum, creating a beautiful plaza for events.

The museum collects and presents contemporary art by emerging and established artists. The museum has also presented a number of traveling exhibits and has a strong education and outreach program. Our permanent collection houses a cross-cultural selection of more than 500 contemporary American artworks, including works by internationally recognized artists Andy Warhol, Frank Stella, Larry Zox, and Camile Billops as well as well noted Georgian artists Lamar Dodd, Howard Finster, Mildred Thompson, Larry Walker, Benny Andrews and John Lawrence.

Just in time for summer, this exhibit features original works by America's iconic illustrator Norman Rockwell. The works are on loan from a private collection in Lenox, Mass., and include private letters and photographs. Rockwell's illustrations conjure an idealized America, which made their way into work.
