Lexington

Lexington has evolved into a quiet, dignified, and elegant old town. It's lack of growth has allowed it to remain relatively true to its 18th-19th century origins. The Lexington Historic District, which encompasses most of the town, has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1977. Many visitors visit the historic courthouse or library just west of town to search the extensive collection of records available. Several unique shops are clustered around the Courthouse Square. Not to be missed is the Goodness Grows Nursery, Perenial Garden, and Gift Shop located on Highway 77 North off of Highway 78, and the Hummingbird House Bed & Breakfast welcomes travelers on Church St. Historic Walking Tour Brochure available at Chamber of Commerce.
