The Marietta Fire Department was officially formed in 1854 following a massive fire that destroyed most of the Marietta Square. This museum offers a unique look at firefighting techniques and equipment from the 1800s to the present. The highlight of the collection is the Silsby Steamer purchased by the city in 1879. Nicknamed "The Aurora," the horse-drawn pumper served Marietta until 1921, and received a complete restoration in 1992. It is one of only five still in existence. Tours are conducted by active duty fire fighters. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m, Closed Saturday-Sunday, open by appointment only.
