Nestled centrally in the Five Points neighborhood of Athens, Memorial Park encompasses 72 acres of rolling hills and hardwood forest, a lake, picnic shelters, walking trails, playground area, 1.5-acre dog park, and Bear Hollow Zoo. Take time to explore the wooded mile-long Birchmore Trail, highlighted by the "Great Wall of Athens," a granite-boulder wall built single-handedly by local legend and late cyclist Fred Birchmore while in his 70s. Free.
