Originally called Cemetery Square, Memory Hill was designated as one of the four public squares of 20 acres each in the Millegeville town plan of 1803. Many people associated with Milledgeville and Georgia, such as Congressman Carl Vinson, writer Flannery O'Connor, governors, legislators, slaves and soldiers are buried here. A self-guided tour map of Memory Hill is available at the cemetery, and guided tours may be arranged for groups of 15 or more.
