Built as the Executive Mansion, it was home to Georgia's governors from 1839 to 1868. One of the most perfect examples of Greek Revival architecture in Georgia, it also received the prestigious Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation award. The Old Governor's Mansion was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1973. It is significant for both its high-style Greek Revival architecture and its close association with nationally important events. The house is open for tours Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sundays from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Tours begin on the hour.
The Curator's Tour is an in-depth look atĀ the MansionĀ and its restoration. See areas that are not usually part of the regular tours. Held every third Tuesday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Reservations required.
